IDF expands its operations in Jabalya, destroys and dismantles 2.7 km. long tunnel

Combat engineers from the IDF's 401st Brigade have located and dismantled a network of tunnels under Jabalya amid the IDF's expanding operations in Gaza.
Combat engineers of the IDF’s Armored Corps 401st Brigade have located and dismantled a network of tunnels located under Jabalya, measuring 2.7 km. in length, the IDF stated on Sunday.
As part of the IDF’s expansion of ground activities in the area, hundreds of terrorist infrastructure sites have been dismantled, countless weapons have been confiscated, and dozens of terrorists have been killed.
Last week, three members of the 401st Brigade were killed inside their tank while operating in Jabalya. The IDF's investigation revealed that the soldiers' cause of death was from the turret exploding, despite their initial assessment being an anti-tank missile.
Renewal of fighting in Gaza
The IDF renewed its operations in Jabalya in mid-June for the third time since the start of the Israel-Hamas War in October 2023. Since the start of the renewed fighting, countless rocket launchers and tunnels are said to have been demolished.
Operations continue in Beit Hanun and Gaza City as well, uncovering and destroying Hamas infrastructure, coordinating their attacks with the Israel Air Force.
These attacks included the killing of Mohammed Nasser Ali Qanita, the terrorist who held Emily Damari hostage, by the IDF and Shin Bet on June 19.

Hostage families warn IDF against op. in areas where hostages may be....
The IDF issued an evacuation warning for residents in the southwestern area of Deir al-Balah in central Gaza, an area the IDF has not operated in before.
Families of hostages are "terrified and shaken" by the IDF's earlier statement that it would operate in areas of Deir al-Balah in central Gaza, areas it has not yet operated in, the Hostages and Missing Families Forum said in a statement Friday morning.
"Can anyone guarantee us that this decision will not come at the cost of losing our loved ones?" the forum asked.
IDF in Arabic spokesperson Avichay Adraee issued an evacuation warning for residents in the southwestern area of Deir al-Balah in central Gaza earlier in an X/Twitter post.
He called on residents to move south towards al-Mawasi.
"The IDF continues to work with great force to destroy the enemy's capabilities and terrorist infrastructure in the area, expanding its operations in a region it has not operated in before," Adraee said.
The forum urged Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Israel Katz, and senior IDF officials to explain what the IDF's plans in the area are and how they will ensure the safety of the hostages.
"Unfortunately, despite all the spin and false promises, many families have already learned firsthand the consequences of escalating the fighting amid negotiations and the absence of a clear war plan. One can only shudder at the horrific murder of six hostages last August," the forum continued.
End war, return hostages
"Enough! The majority of the Israeli people want an end to the fighting and a comprehensive agreement that will bring back all the hostages."
The forum stressed, "For the hostages, this is not a 'bargaining chip' in negotiations, but an immediate and tangible danger to their fate."

Suspects were identified approaching IDF soldiers operating in the Rafah area in Gaza on Friday night, leading soldiers to fire warning shots to disperse them, the military said.
Prior to shooting, the soldiers called on the suspects to distance themselves. Reports of casualties were received, and the incident is under investigation, the IDF noted.
On Friday overnight, soldiers under the Southern Command operated and targeted terrorist infrastructure across the Gaza Strip between Friday and Saturday, the military said.
In northern Gaza, soldiers from Division 162 killed terrorists, destroyed terror infrastructure and weapons facilities above and below ground, the IDF noted.
Soldiers from Division 99 operated in northern and central Gaza, where they uncovered Hamas infrastructure and destroyed several terror sites in Beit Hanun.
In the Gaza City area, soldiers destroyed rocket launch positions, sniper positions, and weapons storage facilities, the IDF stated.

Hamas says Israel rejected ceasefire deal releasing all captives in Gaza
The spokesperson of the military wing of Hamas has said Israel rejected a ceasefire agreement that would release all captives held in Gaza, and pledged that the group is prepared for a lengthy war if there is no deal.
Abu Obeida, the longtime spokesperson of the Qassam Brigades, said in a nearly 20-minute prerecorded video released on Friday that the group had in recent months offered a “comprehensive deal” that would release all captives at once – but it was rejected by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his far-right ministers.
“It has become clear to us that the government of the criminal Netanyahu has no real interest in the captives because they are soldiers,” he said, adding that Hamas favours a deal that guarantees an end to the war, a withdrawal of Israeli forces, and entry of humanitarian aid for besieged Palestinians.
If Israel withdraws from this round of indirect talks held in Qatar, Abu Obeida said, then Hamas does not guarantee a return to any partial deals, including a 60-day deal currently under discussion that would see 10 captives released.
Hamas is still holding 50 people in Gaza, about 20 of whom are believed to be alive.
Speaking during a dinner with lawmakers at the White House on Friday, US President Donald Trump claimed another 10 captives will soon be released from Gaza.
“We got most of the hostages back. We’re going to have another 10 coming very shortly, and we hope to have that finished quickly,” Trump said, without providing details.
The US leader has claimed for weeks that a ceasefire and captive deal is imminent, but nothing has materialised.
In his first video message since early March, Abu Obeida also said Hamas fighters are “ready to continue a long battle of attrition” and will keep up ambushes across Gaza with the aim of killing or capturing invading Israeli soldiers.
He slammed the leaders of Arab and Islamic nations, as well, for their inaction in face of the “genocide” being committed by Israel, saying, “Your necks are burdened with the blood of tens of thousands of innocents who were betrayed by your silence.”
The comments come as the talks in Doha have not led to any results as Israel insists on maintaining and expanding military control over Gaza, including the Morag Corridor and the new Magen Oz Corridor that respectively separate Rafah and Khan Younis in the south from the rest of the enclave.
As soldiers continue to block humanitarian aid to the besieged population and kill starving Palestinians at sites run by the controversial GHF, Israel is also advancing with plans to build a concentration camp on the ruins of Rafah despite international criticism.
At least 41 Palestinians were killed by Israeli forces on Friday, medical sources confirmed to Al Jazeera.
Latest figures by Gaza’s Ministry of Health show that more than 58,667 Palestinians have been killed and 139,974 others wounded since the start of the war in October 2023, including at least 7,843 killed and 27,993 injured since Israel broke the last ceasefire in March.
The ministry added that an “unprecedented” number of starved people of all ages, including children, are arriving at emergency departments of the few hospitals left partially standing in Gaza in a state of extreme exhaustion and fatigue.
