Africans it's a shame your leaders are busy talking about Israel and Hamas of Palestian while miliions of Africans are displaced hundreds of thousands killed in Congo, Sudan and South-Sudan. The shameless AU-African Union are busy in bed with EU officials the grandchildren of those who inslaved your greatgrandparents.

United States — President Donald Trump

  • Framed the U.S. as powerful and self-reliant: “strongest economy, borders, military, friendships.”

  • Rejected “globalism” and criticized the UN for producing “strongly worded letters” instead of effective action.

  • Called for an immediate end to hostilities in Gaza, while opposing recognition of a Palestinian state as rewarding Hamas.

  • Criticized other countries for buying Russian energy, arguing it supports Russia’s war.

China — President Xi Jinping (via video link)

  • Delivered his address virtually, rather than traveling to New York.

  • For the first time, pledged that China would cut emissions (7–10 %) by 2035—not just stabilize them.

  • Emphasized global cooperation on climate, and China’s leadership role in green energy transitions.

Ukraine — President Volodymyr Zelenskyy

  • Issued a warning that Ukraine might be “the first” victim of broader aggression, and that no nation can feel safe if Russia is allowed to expand its war.

  • Highlighted the dangers posed by drone warfare and AI in escalating conflicts, calling the current situation “the most destructive arms race in human history.”

  • Urged world leaders to act, warning that intervening now is far cheaper than fighting larger future wars.

Australia — Prime Minister Anthony Albanese

  • In his first UNGA address, Albanese called out “dictators, tyrants, oppressive regimes.”

  • Reaffirmed Australia’s stance on Ukraine and Gaza, though his speech avoided directly naming Israel.

  • Announced Australia’s intention to pursue a seat on the UN Security Council for 2029–2030.

India

  • Prime Minister Modi ultimately did not deliver a speech at the high-level General Debate; instead, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will represent India.

  • Jaishankar’s agenda is expected to emphasize:
      • Multipolarity — advocating a world with multiple centers of power rather than dominance by any single state.
      • A tough stance on terrorism — warning against use of terror as a tool and calling for stronger global action.

  • India’s decision to abstain on a UNGA resolution concerning Afghanistan reflects a cautious diplomatic approach, resisting “business as usual” tactics in conflict zones.

Takeaway: India will lean into principles of strategic autonomy, collective security in counterterrorism, and strengthening global partnerships—rather than dramatic new shifts.

European Union

  • António Costa, President of the European Council, will speak on behalf of the EU during the 80th UNGA session.

  • The EU’s priorities in its address include:
      • Reaffirming a commitment to multilateralism and rule-based international order.
      • Strengthening partnerships across regions and mobilizing collective action on peace, security, human rights, and sustainable development
      • Calling for revitalized UN reform, particularly to make the organization more effective in today’s complex geopolitical environment.
      • Pressing for a two-state solution in the Middle East, supporting the viability of both Israel and Palestine.

  • The EU delegation is also engaging in side events (e.g. climate, energy, children’s protection) and forging bilateral dialogues during the UNGA week.

Brazil — President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva

  • Warned that multilateralism is at a crossroads, and that the authority of the UN is “in check.”

  • Criticized attacks on sovereignty, arbitrary sanctions, and unilateral interventions as becoming more common.

  • Strongly addressed the war in Gaza: condemned the suffering and displacement, highlighted hunger being used as a weapon. Urged support for an independent Palestinian state.

Indonesia — President Prabowo Subianto

  • Spoke about the tangible effects of climate change on island states, particularly threats from rising sea levels.

  • Noted that Indonesia is transitioning away from fossil fuel–based development towards renewable energy, with goals for net-zero emissions by 2060.

  • His closing included a gesture of interfaith/inclusive greeting (“Wassalamu’alaikum” to “Om Shanti”), aimed at symbolizing unity across religious and cultural lines.

South Africa — President Cyril Ramaphosa

  • Pressed for climate justice, including financial support for adaptation in vulnerable countries, and implementation of obligations under the Paris climate agreement.

  • Criticized the use of trade as a weapon — warned against protectionism and unilateral economic coercion.

  • Called attention to the catastrophe in Gaza: demands for ceasefire, respect for international law, humanitarian corridors. South Africa is also involved in litigation against alleged genocide committed there.

"Africans it's a shame your leaders are busy talking about Israel and Hamas of Palestian while miliions of Africans are displaced hundreds of thousands killed in Congo, Sudan and South-Sudan. The shameless AU-African Union are busy in bed with EU officials the grandchildren of those who inslaved your greatgrandparents".

Senegal — President Bassirou Diomaye Faye

  • Emphasized the “indescribable tragedy” in Gaza; condemned violence, called for humanitarian access and a two-state solution.

  • As chair of the Committee on the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, reaffirmed his country’s role in advocating for rights and recognition.

Kazakhstan — President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev

  • Spoke about a “crisis of trust” in multilateral institutions, stating that both the UN and the Security Council need comprehensive reform to regain legitimacy.

Asia / Middle East

  • Indonesia — President Prabowo Subianto
    • Spoke about colonial past and poverty, likening them to current global suffering in conflicts marked by genocide and violations of international law.
    • Stressed support for peace in Gaza and Ukraine; offered Indonesia’s contribution, including pledging up to 20,000 peacekeeping personnel if requested.
    • Urged rejection of the view that might makes right ("strong do what they can, weak suffer what they must"); called for a rules-based international order and stronger multilateralism.

  • UN Secretary-General António Guterres (though not a head of state but influential)
    • Framed the current era as one of “reckless disruption and relentless human suffering.” Warned that the pillars of peace and progress are under pressure (wars, climate, inequality, tech risks).
    • On Gaza: called for an immediate ceasefire, release of hostages, full humanitarian access, and pushed for a two-state solution.

  • Latin American Leaders (in summary as group)

    • Many, including Chile’s President Gabriel Boric, emphasized defense of Palestinian rights, including condemnation of Israeli occupation and calls for international action & recognition of an independent Palestinian state.
    • Brazil (Lula) focused also on multilateralism, climate crisis, defending democracy, indigenous rights, and criticizing arbitrary sanctions and interventions.
    • Other Latin American leaders spoke about data/privacy, AI regulation, racism, migration, social inequality.

Indonesia — President Prabowo Subianto

  • “We differ in race, religion, and nationality, yet we gather together as one human family.”

  • “Thucydides warned: ‘The strong do what they can, the weak suffer what they must.’ We must reject this doctrine. The UN exists to reject this doctrine.”

  • “We will take our share of the burden … Indonesia is prepared to deploy 20,000 or even more of our sons and daughters to help secure peace in Gaza or elsewhere.”

  • “With a strong United Nations, we can build a world where the weak do not suffer what they must, but live with the justice they deserve.”

  • On Israel-Palestine: “We must also recognize, we must also respect, and we must also guarantee the safety and security of Israel. Only then we can have real peace.”

  • He ended with a multi-faith greeting: “Wassalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh, Shalom, Om shanti shanti shanti om.”

Brazil — President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva

  • “There is no justification for the unilateral and arbitrary measures against our institutions and our economy.”

  • “The aggression against the independence of the Judiciary branch of power is unacceptable.”

  • “Before the eyes of the world, Brazil sent a message to all aspiring autocrats and those who support them: our democracy and our sovereignty are non-negotiable.”

United States — President Donald Trump

  • “America is blessed with the strongest economy, the strongest borders, the strongest military, the strongest friendships, and the strongest spirit of any nation on the face of the earth.”

  • “The United Nations is funding an assault on Western countries and their borders.”

  • “Your countries are going to hell with open border policies.”

South Africa — President Cyril Ramaphosa

From his statement at the 80th UNGA:

“We are called upon to advance cooperation and solidarity between nations.”
“We are called upon to promote multilateralism and safeguard the institutions that enable it.”

China — Premier Li Qiang (at the High-Level Meeting on the Global Development Initiative)

“A review of history shows that when countries worked together in solidarity for shared benefits, global development would advance steadily and everyone would gain; when zero-sum mentality reared its head and division and confrontation rose, global development would come to a halt and everyone would lose.”

  • “I don’t mind making this speech without a teleprompter, because the teleprompter is not working … I feel very happy to be up here with you nevertheless. And that way, you speak more from the heart.”

  • “America is blessed with the strongest economy, the strongest borders, the strongest military, the strongest friendships and the strongest spirit of any nation on the face of the earth.”

  • “In a period of just seven months, I have ended seven ‘un-endable’ wars … No President or Prime Minister — and for that matter, no other country — has ever done anything close to that.”

  • “What is the purpose of the United Nations? … All they seem to do is write a really strongly worded letter, and then never follow that letter up. It’s empty words — and empty words don’t solve war.”

  • “The United Nations is funding an assault on Western countries and their borders.”

  • “Your countries are going to hell.”
