Opal History :- Opal is believed to have originated from the Sanskrit word “upala”, denoting “precious stone.” Old civilizations appreciated opals for their unique appearance, frequently connecting them with divine powers and supernatural origins. The Romans accepted opals as hope, while the Greeks related them with protection and assurance. In ancient times, opals were highly valued and mostly used in jewelry, crowns and charms.
