Are Chinese people aware that their government is an authoritarian dictatorship?

If a dictatorship can produce a GDP growth rate of 7 to 8% every year for the Chinese people for the last 40 years, what is wrong with the dictatorship? If a democracy can produce just a GDP growth of 1 to 2% for the American people with continual worsening of wealth distribution between the rich and poor, and with the most expensive healthcare in the world, also for the last 40 years, what is so good with democracy? especially that of the American style?
